Touchpad Sensitivity

The touchpad on my HP NC6000 will often click on whatever I point to. Is there a way to adjust this? I have checked devices and only mouse shows up working properly. The only thing I can see to adjust is the speed of the double click. Is the touchpad suppose to show up as a separate device? Thanks

I previously went to HP. The only synaptics drivers they had for the NC6000 were XP. I have installed Windows 7 on my laptop. The XP drivers wouldn't load. So I went directly to Synaptics and downloaded software and drivers for Windows 7 It works well. Thanks
