Twitch suspends advertising on popular hot tub streamer's channel

EGG-ZACTLY! If she's fun to talk to, that alone could explain her popularity. People underestimate the value of that. When I was in my 20s (god I feel old saying $hit like that...lol), I used to go to strip clubs a lot (having a girlfriend who swung both ways sure helped too, heheheh).

What I learnt from those days is that, just like everything else, once the initial "wow factor" of (in this woman's case) her magnificent cleavage wears off, if she's about as interesting as a mule to talk to, her channel will fail.

If this woman has 20,000 subscribers, it's because she's fun, articulate and fun to talk to. Sure, her looks might bring 'em in, but it's who she is as a person that keeps them there and keeps them coming back.

Very true.
Even if you're pretty, being no more interesting than a box of rocks doesn't do it for many people (except geologists, in that analogy, hah).
Looks do only get you so far, and while that may be fine for some, most people prefer something more substantially engaging, yes.

And yeah, if it were just as simple as "pretty girl with amble breasts", there's plenty of other means to see such things without having to spend any money other than your ISP and power cost.

I agree. It's why I shudder at the thought of Amazon buying MGM.
Yep. I mean look at the sh1t show they have created now with New World. I was so looking forward for that game. But now with their pay to win testing, people are backing out and lashing at the developers. They almost had a gold mine on their hands. Or the fact that they cancelled the Lord of the Rings game smh.

Who cares what people watch in the comfort of their own home? This is essentially softcore porn and people don't have a problem with pornstars making money. While twitch might not be the best platform for this kind of thing you should atleast let the advertisers decide what is friendly for their product.

This whole thing kind of stinks.

And one final note, calling hottub streaming a "meta" has to be one of the most cringe things I've ever heard. Anyone calling something outside of games "meta" without good reason should be thoroughly ignored.
I would tend to agree with your first statement however I do feel there should be filters on Twitch Honestly I dont watch twitch as whenever I go on there it feels like its either Esports (that I'm not really into) or Questionable Clothing choices, which is not what I want from the platform.

But going back to solving it I don't have an issue with people enjoying it as long as that sort of thing is if required age gated. And if its filtered what's stopping advertising to say they are happy to be shown on them as you say.

I do aim to please... ;)

I remember hearing "A picture is worth 1000 words" or something to that effect somewhere...

I also learnt that if you show the cover of an album for a well-known song, that song will play in the reader's head for added effect. heheheheh

Indeed, I haven't thought of that song in decades, and it's now looping over and over.

Sure, but you can't age-gate a woman just because she's in a bikini. It's legal to be out in public wearing one and several newspapers have bikini-clad women (or even less-clad if you're talking about the UK) and they're not age-restricted reading material. The Toronto Sun newspaper has a different scantily-clad woman on the second-to-last page every single day:
GauBWig3KC3mk0VYQQO5Y2Zlea9D3-RZOYAadXr5QpW_kxnJmEJ3-VcUJqLn4gdyXySocf572Z0plUW5PMMXpOU2fozmB_impHZ_2qJ6X-5xuKKL-kEJqcM_Roi1M_w4wGAyT-cgToyswKVxf7zkeSw66Kf27sYeD6UTjQd5LjJ06zKAalL6qMN3OkGc6eUQ-dHEY_SEdTmEWgzAr-jaXHpn

The Toronto Sun - The SUNshine Girls of Winter
and some of them are in rather provocative poses:

Toronto SUNshine Girls - Tereza
However, there is no minimum age for purchasing a Toronto Sun and the "poor children" don't grow up damaged from it.

You can't make up your own rules that conflict with the law just because you have outdated sensibilities, that's not how it works. A bikini is not a restricted outfit and age-gating it for that reason would result in a successful lawsuit against you. No judge would accept "because I think that it should be age-gated" as a defence if the law or common custom is to the contrary, and it is to the contrary.

You wouldn't have a leg to stand on in that regard.

"Not advertiser friendly"
I dunno, she looks pretty friendly to me. Where is all this sexual puritanism coming from? A renewal of the "War is great but boobs are bad!" BS from the 80s and 90s is NOT something that we need in this day and age.

So, Twitch is becoming the new YouTube. How woinderful.

Funny that YouTube comment...

Because if you include f*ck in your file name as a reminder of something in a particular video when uploading multiple videos at once, it means that's obviously going to be the video name too, huh?

Nevermind I swear all the time in the description with no issue, I flag all my content is as not for children before publishing, and nearly none of it has any mic - just boring in game sound only.

Hell, I'm not even close to monitization, nor do I even care to be, it's just because I'm bored.

Well, porn in any form sells. Maybe she should seek Pornhub for more steamy streaming. I'm sure they're ready to help with these kind of videos.

I never watch Twitch. I would rather play the games myself than watching others play.

It's getting worse, though. The humanity. Now they are even watching others steaming their sleep.

You better find a way to corner the market and get your wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend...whatever....to give live birth to a baby on prime TV or agree to a live TV birth and having the kid grow up in the spotlight. Then setup cameras everywhere that run 24/7 all the time to watch the kid grow up and then make sure you do all this in a giant dome where you can control the environment and help mold the kid.....

That's right. Start your own "Truman Show".

That's cool. What's your channel called?

I remember the days when you used to have to actually do something productive in order to make money. Now you can literally make money by sitting and standing.....and that's it lol.

"Yo dawg I had a super long day at the office. I sat around for 8+ hours playing video games....boy am I exhausted. All those mouse clicks are really starting to stiffen up muh fingers."

"Hey buddy if you think that's bad I had to stand around in a hot tub ALL DAY. I mean look at my feet! They're pruning for crying out loud."

"HEY! Don't even get me started about hot tubs and video games buddy. I had to stand in front of a mirror and take selfies all day! After that I worked up a pretty good sweat doing this cam show today. Here I was worrying about working off the carbs from that Ritz cracker I had."

Look, I do 8 hours work on the factory floor and none of it sit-down work. I see some big name streamers doing their thing before I leave for work, and they're still at it hours after I return. That's real stamina right there. I'd feel mentally exhausted and physically sub-par sitting in the front of a PC 13-16 hours, day after day, week after week. Most notably Summit1G does this. It's like work to them and they deservedly get paid lots for it because people find them entertaining.

Twitch is run by a business, that business gets to decide what kind of content they want on their platform. To argue it should be any other way is to argue against free speech. Twitch has to draw a line somewhere and this is where they're drawing it.

But that aside, with all the free porn on the internet I've always found it weird that anyone would waste time with soft core e girls like this. If your in the mood for that kind of thing, just go to a porn site.

You make a great point. A lot of people also underestimate just how bad it is for your back when you're sitting all the time because your legs aren't helping to hold up your weight, your back is doing it all on its lonesome. That's why ergonomic chairs are so expensive and also so in-demand. The one I use at work cost the company well over $2000CAD and I'm damn glad for it.

You don't seem to understand how free speech works if you think that arguing against unnecessary censorship is free speech. You've got it completely BASS-ACKWARDS..

If you're a platform like Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, etc. then you cannot prevent people from doing things that have no restrictions. Sure, maybe a woman in a bikini is illegal in Saudi Arabia but so too is a woman with her face uncovered.

What Twitch has done here is deliberately suppress HER right to free speech which is protected as long as she isn't in violation of other laws and/or conventions (like obscenity for instance). Not only has Twitch now done something illegal, they have caused demonstrable financial damage to this woman, financial damage that she can sue for. More than that, she can also sue based on projected future earnings that she would have otherwise received based on what she has already achieved.

She'll probably walk away from this a millionaire, not that Twitch cares one way or the other because in the USA, morals and what's right mean nothing when money is involved.

I don't think most people would argue that people shouldn't be allowed to watch soft porn when they want to. The issue is that these streamers are competing directly for stuff like front page coverage with what most people would consider the (original) purpose of Twitch, which was gaming content. Having young girls with their boobs out, on a platform with a mostly young male audience, makes it very hard to compete for everyone else. By all means create a dedicated platform for soft porn streaming so like can compete with like.

There is one critical error in your logic that completely destroys your argument before it even starts.

A woman in a bikini is NOT soft porn. Soft porn is defined as being the same as hard porn except that genital penetration is not displayed or is only simulated. A woman in a bikini is actually PG.

The funny thing is that you are technically correct but it doesn't actually change the validity of my point in the slightest.

Laugh who cares.... twitch sucks anyhow... lame delayed network... hey sexy hot tub, just goto lady omegle, you'll be making tons more money and heck then you can shake it more and get paid :D got to love the people getting off to that

Dress codes have been part of private establishments since written history began. A digital venue is still an establishment. Try show up to a classy or family restaurant scantily clad and see if they will serve you. See how far you get whining about misogyny as they throw you out the door.

There is no "free speech" on privately hosted networks, they are not a country and are not subjected to such things. The owners have complete control. People seem to be confusing their rights with the rights of people who create complicated streaming networks and host them.

If hot-tub girl is upset that she's been taken away from all her gamer boys it is totally within her "rights" to create her own gamer streaming network and be the exclusive hot-tub girl that will flash up on every single page of the site.

Was a nice gig while it was going though. Kudos for hot-tub grrrls.

You don't seem to understand an owners rights to their property. A website is property. It's not a country and it's not a free and open public space.

If you're a platform like Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, etc. then you cannot prevent people from doing things that have no restrictions.
Yes you can, they just did. See above. As an owner you can create restrictions at any time you wish.

What Twitch has done here is deliberately suppress HER right to free speech which is protected as long as she isn't in violation of other laws and/or conventions (like obscenity for instance).
She has no right to free speech on a website, it's not a country.

Illegal where? In the United States of Internet? Where people can use anyone's digital assets for whatever purpose they like?

Sue for what exactly? No one is compelled to do business with anyone else and she was in a business relationship, until she was cut off because the way she was conducting herself was not in the company's mission or self believed interests.

She'll probably walk away from this a millionaire, not that Twitch cares one way or the other because in the USA, morals and what's right mean nothing when money is involved.
She won't get a red cent. Nothing.

Your morals are all good and proper when it comes to the real world, no one can or should stop this woman doing whatever the hell she wants. But you don't have to let her do it in your front yard and pay her for that privilege either.

The sooner these bimbo's are removed from Twitch the better I say!

There are plenty of pr0n sites out there where they can behave and degrade themselves like this and basically be internet prostitutes looking to make a fast buck. In my opinion this kind of behavior has no business being on Twitch as far as I am concerned and it ruins it for other genuine streamers.

Saw one bimbo the other day sitting in a blow up pool and splashing water over her body. I thought to myself. Really? Are you that hard up for money that you have to degrade and make a fool of yourself like that? I couldn't stop laughing myself. She also had some blow up toy saying that if you subscribe your name will be written on it. WTF ROFLMAO!!!

Not to mention the comments from the guys asking her to contact them and posting up their phone numbers along with asking her for a date etc.

Seriously? Where do these hard up morons come from? Do they really think that these women are really interested in them over how fat their wallets are?

Like I keep saying Peeps. Some people should never have been allowed to breed.

The funny thing is that you are technically correct but it doesn't actually change the validity of my point in the slightest.
I completely agree that it doesn't change the validity, but it does render it irrelevant. We're not discussing soft porn here, we're discussing a woman
in a bikini.

Be careful what you wish for because referring to a woman in a bikini as "pr0n" is a slippery slope. Next you'll be seeing women in bikinis at beaches being arrested for public indecency because, after all, a woman in a bikini is pornographic, eh?

People have to look at the dangers of where a path leads before jumping on the bandwagon that's going there.

The problem is she is hetero, or at least projecting the hetero vibe.

And in nowadays newspeak and newbehavior hetero is almost prohibited. If it was a different type of person, they would even draw extra subscribers to their channel. If you're abnormal, this is your time. But if you're normal, it will be harder and harder to live in this abnormal world. The "new normal" is sick to the core. And I'm not talking just about corona.

Actually I never said a woman in a bikini is pr0n. What I was saying was the act of splashing water on herself and some of the other things these bimbo's do to make it look like something that it isn't, looks to me like it is a pr0n scene.

I mean lets be honest here. If they could get away with stripping off on the camera for money they would and if they could get away with more raunch then they would.

Make no mistake. They know what they are trying to portray and to think otherwise is insulting an intelligent persons intelligence and I still believe this kind of behavior shouldn't be permitted on Twitch.

I am no prude so to speak. I am just saying there are other places on the internet in which they can behave like this. So in my opinion they should go there and leave Twitch to the serious streamers.
