You're out of your mind. I worked in engineering for over 20 years. Almost all engineers I know are Trump voters. Also the machinists (I know several), plumbers, electricians, police officers, car mechanics, construction workers, etc. Trump appeals to people who do actual work for a living.

He was campaigning and telling people at every stop in 2023 and 2024 that China is ripping us off (USA product purchases) and his Administration will put a stop to it.

When he won the election, I knew in Nov. 2024 that he's going to put tariffs on China in 2025, and that's when I begin making multiple purchases (might see an uptick of Americans buying Chinese products in Nov. and December of last year, if the author did their research properly) on China's web-stores.

Just pointing out that the title is misleading. I was warning people that buy directly from China back in Nov. 2024 to get cheap products now before Trump's promises in 2025 kicks in, and it did. Not an unexpected surprise or a shock for people paying attention to Trump's rally speeches.

The point of the tarriffs was to "incentivise" the CCP to end the production and export of the Fentanyl precursors. So far 10% has not worked. Buckle up, kitten.
The 25% tarrifs on Mx and CN incentivised them to stop the drugs, illegal immigration, etc. It worked. Trump was upfront about there being some growing pains with the "Golden Age" philosophy. It's the needy, immediate self-gratification folks like you that don't get it. Develop some maturity and patience. But most of all, read more.

The tariffs aren't paid by China so why should they care? Do you really think the tariffs have anything to do with whatever is coming into the country? It's just not true. That's more money going to the US government in tariffs and China is just being blamed. How is China going to stop all illegal activity if the US can't stop all illegal activity? If the US can't detect drugs entering the country, how can China detect them leaving their country?

Yes, DOGE just cut $180 million out of the NIH, and thank God!. As with most of this, the departments and cuts are broadcast lout and clear, but the actual line items of the cut are kept a secret for a reason. Not by Trump, mind you, by the PRESS. Not one penny of NIH funds to people were made. The cuts were contracts with NIH, of which $170 million was for a new Fauci exhibit at the NIH museum (which I didn't know we had) that probably ought to be shut down to save a buck or two as well.

Everyone wants to cut government waste, then screams bloody murder when a single dime is touched.

I, for one, am tired of paying for shrimp on treadmills, pointless exhibits, bridges to nowhere, etc. Oh, and lets not forget, social security payments to people without SSN OR any ID numbers, just ship the checks.

The conspiracy theorists seem totally incapable of understanding that the tariffs are not paid by China or any country who's imports tariffs are levied on. Those in the US who think that tariffs are paid by the country on which they are imposed seem incapable of understanding that the tariffs amount to yet another tax on them - US consumers who buy those products. I have to wonder whether US consumers will come to understand that they are paying the tariffs on items from anywhere when they are paying more for those items. My bet is that they will probably not be capable of understanding that even them.

Tariffs are not an export tax; how could they be? The US has no power to enforce that kind of tax. Tariffs are a tax on imports which will, beyond a shadow of a doubt, will be paid by US consumers.

The problem with these tariffs is that they are collected by the shipper at the time of delivery, usually with exorbitant fees added for the "privilege" of collecting the tariff. (Those fees often far exceed the tax that is being collected.) That also means that somebody has to be present when the package arrives, and usually precludes the popular choice of having packages delivered to a workplace (because somebody is always available to receive them) rather than to the home.

If tariffs are going to be added, they should be collected at the time of sale, not delivery. The seller has an incentive to minimize added costs that would hurt sales, and they're already collecting money so it wouldn't be an extra transaction. The total cost of having something delivered would be clear to the buyer, eliminating nasty surprises that hit days or weeks after placing the order.

The fact that an illiterate, orange-tinged person, someone afflicted very badly by narcissistic personality disorder, dementia, mental retardation, tiny hands (and other organs) amongst numerous other co-morbidities, can be allowed to lead the nation is truly inspirational for those of you amongst the voting populace similarly afflicted.

Such people used to be abhorred and rejected but now they hold the highest offices of state. It used to be rare that such deprecated specimens were represented in government but now they are everywhere - a huge diversity of mental health conditions; all without needing any formal laws to secure their participation! Just shows how forward-looking and progressive the new administration is!
