US bans Chinese software from connected cars, triggering a major industry overhaul

Well - Data is money, which is almost 100% the "real" reason behind this "Security threath" stamp down.
First Palantir to spy from the sky sort to speak, then car software to spy when you're on the move - And everywhere else, you're carrying a portable recording device with noise cancelling microphones and a 48 megapixel camera - which, based on the "recommended items" I get popping up in my feed, is most definitely listening in on my conversations.
We were talking about dogs the other day at work - I haven't had a dog in 18 years, but suddenly I get flooded with dog food commercials, dog equipment etc....Never searched for it, never clicked on any "dog videos"..but my phone was on the table, an American phone :p

Exactly. We'd have seriously cheap all-electric cars by now if we allowed Chinese cars to be imported into the US. But no, we have to protect the likes of GM and Ford because they can't get their damn act together.
Its not that they can't get their act together. They just have to pay their workers a living wage. The Chinese are not hampered by any such restriction so they pay peanuts allowing them to sell their products cheaper than American ones. An important factor in the holy religion of capitalism.

That's a fair point. Companies are clueless to the responsibilities they have to provide for the workforce as a part of their business model.

While also a good point, it's also a tell-tale sign of economic collapse.
