USB flash drive not detected

I have a sandisk flash drive that does not show up in file explorer although it is in computer management. I have a w10 dell latitude. No other devices seem to be a problem although I haven't tried another flash drive yet. If it is the drive itself that I suspect is there anything I can do to make it work?

Generally I've found these things either work or they are for the bin. It should be detected and if not ready to use you get asked if you want to format it. Ideally you need to try it on another PC. Fortunately usb drives and SD cards are cheap to buy.
