There's no shortage of products claiming to challenge the iPad, but Google and Verizon are whipping up some fierce competition, according to the carrier's CEO, Lowell McAdam. Google's involvement is unclear? Google's involvement is Chrome OS, isn't it?

I can get behind this. Google and Verizon are companies to which I feel consumer loyalty, and Apple has made me increasingly more angry over the past few years with their greedy, malicious business tactics. Though tablets don't really appeal to me in general, I'd hate to see a monopoly on them by Apple (like with mp3 players), where iPad is THE tablet and nothing else can even tread water.

Google and vzw have my full support on this one

There's no mention of whether the supposed tablet runs Android or Chrome OS, and it's unclear whether Google's involvement runs any deeper than that -- but it could.
