virus infected message in system tray

I need help, please

hi everyone, can someone please help me, as u can see i dont know much about computers.

i have a dark red circle with a white ''x'' in the bottom right corner, with a bubble saying

your computer is infected, windows has detected spyware infection, it is recomended to use special antispyware toools to prevent data loss. windows will now download and install the most up-to-date antispyware for you, click here to protect you computer from spyware

does anyone know a free way of getting rid of this as its driving me crazy?!!!

please say that someone can help!!!
