Walmart delivery service that places groceries in your fridge launches this fall

30 years ago this would not have bothered me as much. You can not be too safe in this day and age. If you don't lock the door someone you don't know is going to walk through it. I bet people that don't have issues with this have never heard stories of people casing houses from the inside as they work. Just so they can go back later for specific items they saw while working. If you want to put your household items up on display, be my guest. But don't call us paranoid, when we hear horror stories all the time.

People steal packages right off the front doorstep.

Even delivery workers have been caught stealing packages.

Letting them into the house and hoping "a camera" prevents theft or fraud?

Cops have cameras on their body and that doesn't stop them from committing murders.

No thanks, I'm not that lazy. This is something for people who are physically unable to do this under their own power. If you can buy your own groceries right now, you don't need this service and you shouldn't want people just coming into your house to put things away in your fridge. Especially Walmart workers.

@hk2000, beyond the video evidence, there is no need in defense. What employees do on their own time is out or Wallmart's control and responsibility.

Agreed. But I think it's nice if you have a big *** mansion and you're rich af and you don't care if someone steals your 10000$ spoon set anyway.
No matter how little you have, there is somebody who has less. And that someone, in a majority of cases, is always willing to try and steal it, or try to con you out of it.

At the present time, some percentage of Walmart's cashiers haven't been in this country long enough to properly understand colloquial American English. I n fact, sometimes they have a have a hard time with English, period.

I doubt that Walmart is going to the expense of properly vetting people from some remote unknown region of Africa, if that in fact, is even possible. They hire recent immigrants for the sole purpose of being able to continue paying low wages, and pass it off as, "committing to diversity in the work force". Low wages lead to dissatisfaction with one's station in life, which in turn, can lead to crime.

Then there's to opioid crisis, the crack crisis, the coke crisis, the heroin crisis.

In any event, your turd of a $99.95 Walmart TV, is worth maybe a couple bags of dope to a drug dealer. Try and keep that in mind as you expound on about how you have the whole thing figured out.

Keep in mind that IMO, "liberal and trusting", are euphemisms for, "naive and potential future victim".

Your Wal-Mart only has 8? (Checkout lanes),That is cute. They are redoing their stores around the country. Just wait, you will have a lot more.
I thought we've already established it doesn't really matter how many checkout lanes any given Walmart HAS, it's how many they're willing to staff.

(Unless of course, you were just being sarcastic. That wasn't a terribly good attempt toward that end, but apologies anyway)

I was talking about self checkout lanes.

Well, the Walmart closest to me already has 8, and the store, (ostensibly) has already been. "remodeled".

It also has 2 (maybe 4), ("scan 'n go") full conveyor belt, used to be cashier checkout lanes, for customer use> They are never open.

The store is also now open 6 AM to 12 PM. As everybody is now shopping until 12 midnight, (ostensibly) to "beat the crowds", the store is pretty full.

This is aggravated by the fact that they close the selfie lanes at 10 PM. So explain to me how more of them would help, since you weren't being "sarcastic".

But yes, they do have 2 or 3 cashiered lanes open until midnight, and they'll possibly open another if the customers get more than 10 deep in line.

Dunno, the Walmart near me has about 20+ self checkout lanes and like 10+ cashier lanes. It is also open 24/7.

Walmart does prioritize different stores in different areas, (again ostensibly) by size and annual revenue. There are "super Walmarts", which have attached auto repair and garden centers.

So, if I want normal Wallmart "stuff" I ride about 2.5 miles. If I have a flat , or need new tires, I drive from Philly to the Chester border, more like 10 miles. (IDK the hours of the Essington Walmart "Supercenter",or whatever the call the biggest stores).

I don't know how common ours is. We have two main entrances with 4 self-checkouts. The tobacco lane directly between. There is around 6 cashier lanes filling in between on each entrance. And then several more spread out in specific departments.

@cliffordcooley Well Cliff, I'm certain Walmarts choices are based on store sizes, population density in the area, and annual revenue.

Arguably, you live in "a nice area", without too many of those pesky "attention Walmart shoppers" to bother you.

Or perhaps, they're more inclined to shop a social class up at Target". (Pronounced "Tar-jay". (with a soft "J", somewhere in between G, H, & J)). Parlez vous Francais?

No thanks. I'll buy my own.

Ain't no telling what would-be walmart associates may do in your homes.
Body cam or not, as crazy as this world has gotten, I rather drive or catch the bus to buy my own products I need.

Some of these ideas companys are developing is quite stupid and outright dangerous.

What happens if they get hurt in your house will they sue you?

What if they by accident let your pet outside by keeping the door open too long?

Communist Albania used to be the worst country on the planet regarding privacy. But with the widespread use of smartphones, Western Countries are leading in the loss of privacy. Even compared to communist Albania. And now this......

Next time you hear news privacy problems in China, just remember that a service like this wouldn't get a green light even in communist North Korea. These services must be a wet dream of NSA and similar organizations.

You're being a bit far fetched with this assessment. After all, how stupid of a terrorist would it take, to allow Walmart to stock their fridge, while they have materials for suicide vests and bombs , strewn about the house?

You do have to consider that the kitchen is usually at the back of the house, and you walk through the living and dining rooms to get there. Besides, I thought bomb making was what the extremist's kitchen was for. No?
