Weekend mass shootings: Politicians "partly" blame video games, Cloudflare cuts ties with...

Why not go after rappers and violent movies instead? IDK I am a heavy gamer when it comes to FPS and I have a clean record. If I have a bad day I just load up Quake 3 Arena. Back in my teen years my buddies and I would drink and listen to rap music and it made me and them more violent because the music pumps up your adrenaline and mix that with alcohol it doesn't equal well.

The whole world listens to rap music and watches violent movies .... this isn't happening anywhere except the US .... Multiple mass shootings every year ... only happens in 1 place .... a place where you can go to your local grocery store and grab a weapon (kinda crazy when you think about it .... Need a bag for your tomatoes and AR15?)

Mass shootings have happened in the US since the 1700's. Which violent movies were people watching prior to 1900? "The Mummy?" "Abbott and Costello vs Dracula?"

Oh and I hate to break it to you but people listen to rap music in every country on earth.

You know what the cause is? People raised in a gun society that feel its the only way to assure you save face and never have to back down, even if it means killing someone over a minor slight. Nutjobs that go undiagnosed. People's fears amped up by hate filled politicians including the president. Easy access to guns that can kill or injure hundreds of people in minutes.

Everything is manipulated for an agenda. They manipulated americans to buy more guns buy thereatining to take them over and over for decades. They sit back and watch while people stock up, and they profit on the sales. This will lead to a roundup of anyone on the red list...then sit back and watch us kill each other in a collapse.

No surprise with how the current administration is "handling" this. Nothing will be done. No bipartisanship will be had. It'll be "Thoughts and Prayers" and "We are United" blahblahblah to act like we won't stand for these heinous acts. When in reality, they've created a breeding ground for domestic terrorism. And obviously no Republican is going to have the balls to propose any gun control laws. Pretty easy way to instantly lose votes.

The majority of Dems don't want full-on gun bans. We want some common sense restrictions in place, for starters. I don't care if Jim Bob owns 100 AR's, as long as he has proven himself worthy and competent.

Isn't it just the most 'convenient' method... gun, machete, bomb, car, arsonist's match, etc. Yes, we should limit this kind of 'convenience', but what truly matters is strong co-operation between public at large and various authorities to get help for these 'troubled' folks. One of the first steps includes building a high mutual regard - so I would say one area of significant improvement would be the behaviors of the politicians.

I agree- most of these video games, like COD, are products of imaginative, but evil minds, with an ulterior motive. Same goes for just about everything coming out of Hollywood- though maybe not as imaginative.

Lets not forget the condemnation of racism, bigotry, and white supremacy while constantly attacking in a racist, bigoted, and white supremacist fashion. It would not be complete without the US' feckless leader pretending he gives a :poop: and eschewing that which he does every day.

There must be some kind of Sympathy Generator on the internet he uses to come up with such emotionless, insincere statements.

You are kidding right?
Mass shootings in the US have happened since the 1700's. What video games were they playing prior to 1970 again? What violent tv shows were they watching back then?

I've played video games for over 40 years, mostly shooters once Doom came out and so far haven't killed anyone. There is a direct correlation between number of guns per capita and deaths. There is also a raft of studies showing video games produce LESS youth violence.

The # of victims went up in lock step with the adoption of assault weapons. Pistols, single shot rifles and shotguns produced 1-5 victims. We went double and triple digit with semi automatic rifles and bump stocks.
You are kidding right? Did they have assault rifles in 1700? Could the rifles 1700 kill 9 people in a minute? What a joke.

I personally don't have anything against Americans having a gun for protection what I don't agree with is the types of guns you can buy for that purpose if you can't defend yourself your family and your property with a 9mm glock and a 10 round mag then you don't deserve to own a gun because you'll probably shoot your neighbour before you hit an intruder..... Also blaming games is just nonsense if you are going to kill lots of people then you were going to do it anyways as you were predisposed to that sort of violence regardless

The only real influence is an individual's ability to reason. No game, no movie, and no songl can ever make a sane mind insane. They're already unstable to begin with and people are just looking for a political win rather than placing the blame right square where it belongs, on the perpetuator. All mass shooters leave crumbs of evidence that they are disturbed and that advertises their intent long before they commit their crimes and it is ignored. Sometimes I believe on purpose in hopes of it leading to an event that in turn leads to outcries of stricter gun control and eventually to prohibition. Gun control advocates don't care about people. They only care about power. Saul Alinsky- "Never let a good crisis go to waste". It is not beyond socialists to manufacture a crisis to which they provide the solution. Meaning less freedom for you. Democratic socialist, now there's an oxy(*****) if one ever saw one. There's nothing democratic about a socialist, except maybe in the beginning, prior to gaining power.

This is Chicago, week after week after week: "On the same weekend were 29 people were killed in two separate mass shootings in Texas and Ohio, the city of Chicago is reeling after 25 people were shot in several incidents over a four-hour span early Sunday morning."

Blacks killing blacks is fine. Absolutely fine. Totally good. No headlines. No racism. All good. Perfectly in order. Just like in Africa.

Something is rotten in country USA (and the rest of the globalism World). Who knows what "trearment" he had in school. Too bad he didnt had the time to resolve the problem in his head and its environment...

Other countries also have brutal video games, but if they don't have easy access to weapons, They don't have mass shootings.
American politicians are either retarded or They hope Their constituents are.
How do You think, which one is it?
More that they don't care. Probably take a mass shooting at the Pentagon to change their attitude to automatic weapons. When the right to bear arms (RTBA) was drafted the arms were single shot muzzle loaded muskets! Now there's a thought - enforce that those are the only weapons covered by RTBA.

That's the real problem people are so desensitized to murder.

Strange how only citizens of the US are affected by video games, become criminally violent and start daily mass shootings....but all other countries seem to be immune to it!!

And even stranger how US politicians who are against any kind of healthcare suddenly want lots of mental healthcare for those "mental criminals" who engage in mass shootings.... so bizarre.

I really love simplistic viewpoints. If only reality were this simple.

They just say what stupid people think and want to hear.
I dont think they are very stupid. I think the fact that they say what their voters wanna hear proves they re not that stupid.

One would think you'd learn something from the Prohibition era. You tried to ban alcohol and look how well that went.

Also please tell me how banning legal guns is gonna stop criminals? Also please tell me how its gonna stop false flags?

Finally please tell me more about how playing ultra violent games with ultra realistic graphics for multiple hours a day 7 days a week has no effect on you?

You're talking about a culture and an economy that spends ~700 Billion dollars on military alone. Also a country that shows 35%-43% of households having a firearm. Americans make up about 4.4 % of the global population but own 42 % of the world’s guns. Even though it's peanuts compared to Amazon for example domestic gun sales are still around 62 billion dollars. The difference is in the culture.
"The United States is one of only three countries, along with Mexico and Guatemala, that begin with the opposite assumption: that people have an inherent right to own guns.
The main reason American regulation of gun ownership is so weak may be the fact that the trade-offs are simply given a different weight in the United States than they are anywhere else.
After Britain had a mass shooting in 1987, the country instituted strict gun control laws. So did Australia after a 1996 shooting. But the United States has repeatedly faced the same calculus and determined that relatively unregulated gun ownership is worth the cost to society.
That choice, more than any statistic or regulation, is what most sets the United States apart."

Thus said, nothing will change any-time soon, the government thinks the trade-off is worth it.

You're correct, but just because we can it doesn't mean we should. Besides, here in Mx the army is the only entity allowed to sell guns, so you have to clear their checkups in order to legally acquire one.

I feel like the answer is in front of us, but surely it must be something else. White House and Fox "News" constantly talking about an "invasion" of immigrants on the border. Then, an angry white supremacist writes a manifesto about an invasion at the border and a perceived loss of white power. Next, this triggered snowflake b*tch boy goes and shoots up a place.

Must have been video games and mental health issues. Not guns and white supremacy.

Pro tip, blame greedy *** corporations for your shitty lives, not immigrants.

Ah, someone who gets it. (y) (Y) Behind the greedy a$$ corporations - the economic system is, as I see it, the real problem.

Unfortunately things don't work like that, the US spends a lot less on gun violence research than pretty much any other cause of death and I do tend to believe the article bellow that they do it on purpose.

https://www.businessinsider.com/gun...s-spends-on-gun-violence-research-2018-3?IR=T

What makes things worse is that the NRA spends money on lobbies that would undermine more thorough background check laws.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/05/nra...g-against-expanded-background-check-laws.html

What's even more worrisome is the fact that the US spends roughly $229 BILLION on gun violence yearly with a staggering amount of that total being paid by tax payers.
