Weekend Open Forum: How much have you spent on your PC?

If I'm not mistaken, the only pc parts I bought:
1. this year is a 1tb Toshiba hdd to replace my dead two 3tb Seagate hdd.

.............
Is that the right way round? I would hardly consider a 1tb drive a replacement for two 3tb drives.

I'm a gamer/flight simmer but not really a PC-enthusiast, meaning I don't extreme overclock or use multiple GPUs, but I like to have enough gaming power. Also I recycle some parts like HDs, SSDs and graphics cards from one build to the next so it's hard to tell exactly the total cost. My current machine is a 2600k/GTX780 which I estimate at ~$1500. I'm very tempted to move to Haswell-E but keep the GTX780.

Because I am a movie fan and don't trust Nas devices

NOTHING - I got my main computer from a partner...then I got the current rig from a family who sold a cat climbing tree to us. The current computer was thought to be broken, but it wasn't. I got a SSD for a present card which I got from my job as a present for doing a good job.
Pretty lucky tbh, the "old" rig would have gone for around 800€ and the current one would go for around 1200€.

Probably be around $1200 including all the extra fans and peripherals and having to replace the motherboard one day. I was running a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 but it burnt out so I'm running the slighter lower spec'd Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 right now even though I already have my Gigabyte board replaced/repaired via RMA. Maybe around Black Friday or Christmas time I'll order an FX-8370 and then put my current FX-8320 and the Asus board plus some other hardware into a back-up rig.

About 13000$ ^_^

It's been ongoing for a while. I'm still running a Q6600 o/c @ 3.33ghz. My last purchase was a watercooler and software. I'm up around $2,000.

Lets see because thats a tough one...Let me go through the updated list:

i7 5930K $589
MSI X99S Gaming 9 AC $428
Gskill DDR4 2133 16gb $259
3x R9 290X PowerColor $520x3 or $1560
Rosewill Lightning 1300 Watt Gold $219
Corsair Obsidian 800D $250 ish (Had some deal cannot remember exact price)
LG Blu-Ray Drive $30
Samsung 840 Pro 512gb SSD $350
Seagate Barracuda 1tb $65
XSPC Raystorm Block and whole RX 360 + 140mm Liquid cooling system including 3 water blocks ~$1100

So minus the little touches I added like the Metal cut out for the top grill, lighting, and such its about $4850 give or take. I also bundled alot of stuff and got things at a discount at times so its hard to say exact because I do not have some of the transactions around anymore. Oh course that also does not include my monitor, keyboard, and mouse but that would make it above 5K at that point.

In short too much, but with the recent purchases (Haswell-E) that is not getting changed for 3+ years minimum. I may swap GPU's 2 times (I skip a generation with GPU purchases) minimum so I may keep it for a very long time as long as it keeps running strong.

1100. Case and all. Reused my ram and dvd drive from my old build. I7- 4790. Asrock extreme 6. New hard drive. I see no reason to use a dedicated sound board. Oh and using old school 620 gtx. And for the haters. I didn't build it for you. So go comment on some one else's build.

Not much of anything this year - probably the only things I've purchased this year are my OR DK2 and a second RAID controller + BBU + 2GB Cache Module + RAID LCD display. Been a while since I've done a full build and no way I can add up the value of all the machines I've had. I currently have a dozen or so still running machines but none of those were purchased this year.

I've been upgrading my PC progressively so it has been evolving since 1999!, never spent more than 563,30€ ($739.83) in one go. It would be fun to try and investigate how much I have spent on my current setup. I'll try to make some calculations when I get back from work. My longest used components were/are: Samsung floppy drive (1999-2008, unused for several years until finally removed when I updated my case), Func 1030 mousepad (2004-present, a little worn out but functional) and Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Elite Pro soundcard (2006-present, will replace it next week with a Creative SoundBlaster ZxR due to an insanely good deal from Amazon.es).

EDIT: Finally went ahead and crunched some numbers:

PC:
Case: Antec One 50.30€
Motherboard: Asus P7P55 LX 91€
PSU: Corsair VX550 78€
CPU: Core i5-760 2,80Ghz 173€
Cooling: Noctua NH-U9B SE2 + Noctua NF-S12B ULN 70€
RAM: Kingston 8GB 29+27€
VGA: Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 SC 245€
SSD: Crucial M4 128GB 80.25€
HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 80€
Blu-ray Burner: LG BH12LS38 70€
Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro 270€

Peripherals:
Monitor: Dell U2312HM 393.24€
Mouse: Roccat Kone Pure 58.46€
Keyboard: CM Storm Quickfire Pro RED 65€
Webcam: Logitech Webcam C200 20€
Speakers: Logitech Z-5500 299€
Headphones: Sennheiser HD595 137€

Grand total: 2.211€ // $2,901.41

I usually keep it around the 1k area for a new build. Most of that going toward the video card. I am still running an i5-2500k, 8GB, and a GTX580 in which I cannibalized from my previous build (computer case, HDDs, dvdrom, power supply, etc)

Not a lot thanks to a country with exorbitant import tax and an almost complete lack of enthusiast hardware outlets ( I think there is ONE store in the entire country that stocks watercooling gear)...so I import at wholesale prices and sell locally at retail (helps to offset the only locally sources items too expensive to ship -chassis, PSU). The only thing I tend to keep a record of is watercooling parts -which for some inexplicable reason I seem to hoard, and graphics cards which owe me about $NZ500 (~$US400) in the last 10 years or so (Nvidia NV35/ATI R360 to current GTX 780 SLI).

I don't get hosed on import/VAT like you do and I just added up my cooling system at $2200 without fans. Wonder what that would be with NZ's import taxes....yikes

$US170 for a EK 290X FCWB, bog standard Primochill LRT @ $US3.34/ft (Tygon E-3603 is 3x the price and my preferred 2475IB is close to $20/ft) , Bitspower 1/2ID-3/4OD compression fittings $US18.40 each, a bare D5 PWM at $US117.
Thankfully the guys at Performance PCs, Hellfire Toyz, and Bitspower make shopping locally a rare occurrence.
If you need a replacement 290X give me a yell. We have sweet deals for reference models starting at $US 670 !

Samsung series 5 gaming monitor 24" full hd, 2ms is out now...
