Weekend Open Forum: What really grinds your gears?

Tech managers that are clueless about technology. Morons that jumped on computer bandwagon when they lost their jobs selling vacuum cleaner. People who post here that don't have a clue about working in tech. Help desk people that only know how to read a script. Thank you come again.

I hate s tupid tests that have nothing to do with how to perform a job but yet you have to ace them to be even considered.
I hate tech guys who are so d umb that don't even know what file corruption is the result of. Bad hard drive? Oh no it is not that we just need to reinstall your software and hope that fixes it. All the hard ware passed a few 100 errors that is just normal.

I ha te the swap it out trouble shooter who ends up changing everything in your car or computer as trouble shooting steps and when it is fixed several thousands of dollars later acts like he is the man that fixed it so you should worship him.

The fact that most electronic devices are non repairable by design.
OK, now you are stepping on what grinds my gears. The thought that we create products that continuously need repairing is only a marketing concept by design.

Not saying we should make product that need constant repair but accidents do happen and items do break. It would be nice to be able to repair something with a minor issue instead of just throwing it out.

*Takes deep breath and - Relatives who try to clean up or service their own computers, who invariably click on some stupid malware "cleaner" or fake "anti-virus" that is supposed to clean up their computers for them, but only exacerbates the problem and instead of them having 5 instances of malware or trojans, they instead have 1167 instances and then I gotta spend my whole evening cleaning up their messes that they made worse instead of calling me or bringing it to me in the first place cause I am gonna fix it anyway being the whole extended families tech support and if they contacted me straight away it would easily save me hours of my evening and I wouldn't have to DVR every single thing I want to watch and watch everything I like 3 days behind everyone else - whew *deep breath - NOW breathe - in out in out

You know what really grinds my gears? people who are born in america and have the opportunity to be decently educated yet they cant figure out which form of "their/there" "your/you're"
"two/too/to" to use in a sentence when they have to write it down. these ****s really grind my god damn gears. *****s.

If I told you what really "grinds my gears", you'd have to kill my post.:eek:

We are all just bots. Except for the guest accounts, those are people ;)
I think this could be adapted to sing over the, "Dr. Pepper Song":

"I'm a ro-bot, you're a ro-bot, wouldn't you like to be a ro-bot too".....

I'm warning you, don't make me post video on this....:cool:

You do know you're not allowed to "grammar nazi" on a guest account, don't you?

(And I didn't capitalize "Nazi", since I'm using it as a verb).

BTW, "America" is always capitalized. People who complain about others usage, spelling, and syntax really grind my gears when they do something as dumb as not capitalizing "America"...:p

It's one thing to speak in general terms as our guest has but it's another to actually correct someone.
Gee, am I in trouble?

It's also something different to lecture on about how bad other people's grammar is, (even in "general"), while merrily making grammatical errors doing so.

Let's call it, "broadcast grammar nazi-ing".

Some people in traffic that don't seem to know how to drive
some people who are like a con-man, but think they are like a businessman (gtfo)
some people that run a business and claim to want to digitize documents, but ultimately don't even want to try, to understand how something or little things works in the I.C.T., while also not wanting to pay for expertise nor buying or spending on new appliances.
some people who think they know everything, but forget that learning is a never-ending process
some people that have prejudice, just because I have a brown skin (oh I so like to rub it in their face sometimes, but I keep being calm)

Yeah well, we really wouldn't know that if you hadn't told us.Which leads us to the obvious question, "are you trying to rub our faces in it"?

I would quote a large number of the previous comments in this one, but I won't.
Instead, I'll point out that this forum quickly turned into an open Apple/Android/Windows argument yet again for a bit.
That 'grinds my gears'.
I'm a computer technician by trade, focused on the point of sale industry, along with maintaining a fair few web and phone servers. My diagnostic tools of choice? An android tablet, and a Macbook Pro. I do not own an iDevice, I am no Apple fanboy - but I have a Macbook Pro, bootcamped to run Windows 7 as well.
Why? Because I can test nearly every user agent string possible for the websites. I can test any softwares, trace through any network environment, find bugs in their native OS with no nasty emulation.
Turning every forum into an "Apple vs the world" debate is juvenile. Get over Windws being the most common OS, get off the fAndroid wagon, and let every person use the device that appeals to their own aesthetic or environmental preferences, because it doesn't affect anyone but the person themselves. Every OS has pros and cons, everyone needs to weigh them on their own without people insulting the system instead of providing constructive criticism which people would use to review their decisions.

Android, on the other hand, comes in larger variety, more price ranges, with better specs and much higher versatility (and, by consequence, complexity)
If Android is too complex for you, maybe you should buy a calculator...and avoid the scientific one.

Journalists that can't write, feelgood stories and when guys write about their neighbors dog pissing them off such as when the dog craps in their yard, such anger

Stupid people
Hipsters that think they know everything
People, regardless of political party, that think everyone should be forced to believe their side
(in the USA) Anyone who thinks the Constitution is old and outdated, and should be done away with
Go along with the crowd morons that think that having a certain car, house, phone, makes them "special"
Anyone who thinks they are better than someone else due to college, money, social status.

2 things are true in this life. You were born NAKED. When you DIE, all the money, power & influence
won't mean crap. The wealthiest person in the world is EXACTLY the same status as the homeless
person who dies. YOU ARE BOTH DEAD!

And just because I want to cheer you up this fine Sunday, I'm bringing you this excerpt from, "Cymbeline"........

Fear no more the heat o' the sun,
Nor the furious winters rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone and ta'en thy wages;
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.

Fear no more the frown o' the great,
Thou art past the tyrants stoke;
Care no more to clothe and eat;
To thee the reed is as the oak;
The sceptre, learning, physic, must
All follow this, and come to dust.

Fear no more the lightning-flash,
Nor the all-dreaded thunder-stone;
Fear not slander, censure rash;
Thou hast finish'd joy and moan;
All lovers young, all lovers must
Consign to thee, and come to dust.

No exorciser harm thee!
Nor no witchcraft charm thee!
Ghost unlaid forbear thee!
Nothing ill come near thee!
Quiet consummation have;
And renowned be thy grave.

William Shakespeare

But wait, there's more! At the "Funeral Helper website: http://www.funeralhelper.org/non-religious-from-cymbeline-william-shakespeare.html

I haven't gotten to know you or most other people here yet so I can't do that. I hope no one is and you aren't =p. I know some people judge someone without even knowing them. Well I don't blame some of them for being like that. But you have others that are doing it on purpose. It happens all over the world

I only judged you on what you wrote. Your intellect, as it were. The world isn't color blind yet. So, my point is, since we're dealing only with the printed word which is solely powered by the mind, (which is gray), why feel the need to lead with the issue of race?

This is the internet I dont have to capitaize or properly punctuate anything.
