I want to upgrade my machine from the asrock agp nforce 3 mobo i am currently using to a new mobo that will take my amd 6400x2 cpu and the 4*1GB sticks of DDR2 6400 ram. I want to buy a ati 4870 to go in this mobo (or a x2 version when they come out) and I wouldnt mind considering going for crossfire.
Anyone got any ideas what motherboard would offer the best features/performance/compatability for that cpu and gfx combination? I would also want to be able to upgrade potentially to a phenom if the clock speeds ever get high enough to make it worthwhile.
Also, 4 sticks of 1Gb ram. Anyone see any issues with that?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have had a look at a few chipsets and the 780 ati ones stand out but i havent kept up to speed on it as much as on the gfx cards. I dont buy new motherboards very often
