Why can't we get rid of 2-prong plugs?

I mean come on. Just make everything 3 prong or at least the SHAPE of 3 prong. I'm so sick of these stupid 2 prong plugs with different size prongs that make it more difficult to get plugged in the right direction. At least if all plugs were the shape of 3 prong plugs, it'd be simpler. It's like USB all these years until USB-C. Can we get some kind of initiative to end 2 prong plugs? *****s.

Two-prong electrical outlets and plugs are still in use primarily because of the high cost and structural difficulty of upgrading older infrastructure, combined with the fact that many modern appliances are designed to not require a ground connection.

They’re also different classes of device for electrical safety. Plus what’s the point of a ground pin for a device that doesn’t have one

Seems to mere there is much more that can be improved upon, so really a major switch to what they have in the EU would be great (their 3-prong sockets can take two prong cables).

And while we are at it also just make electricity supply of a higher quality, so the need for filters and what not goes away. A good quality system means the sockets and appliances can be simpler, look more elegant and it saves costs.
