WiFi cable antenna vs CATV

WiFi cable is $$$ if you want to run a outdoor antenna. Can you use CATV cable. What about signal loss? Will the adapters work?

I have a PC in my shop about 150ft from the house and want to recieve my WiFi signal from the house. My house shows up on the signal list but I have to signal. Should I boost the modem signal or get a outdoor antenna for the garage. If I boost the modem signal then I will make a hotspot for my neighbors to tap and slow my connection down. What should I do?
