Wifi? Whats the Pros' and Con's?

Ive searched around the internet, and have not been able to find a simple straight forward list, of the pro's and con's of wifi.

My new computer is situated upstairs, and im wondering if using wifi will dramatically decrease my down stream. I am currently on an ADSL 2mb/s connection and my down stream is the max of 215kb/s.

Can anybody help explain the pro's and con's of Wifi?

Slow (won't hinder your average internet connection though)

depends on you and your usage.

If you have a 'computer room' and all systems are therein, why wireless?

On the other hand, if you're a laptop user and want to be with the family in front of
the TV to type a quick email or a letter for mailing in the morning, wireless is a great asset.

Reasonable steps can be taken to secure your network, and it's not expensive nor difficult
