I am working with Windows 2000 and am having a problem getting TO the desktop. I rebooted the system useing the disk and repair a couple issues that way, but now when it asks for a user name and password to to get into the desktop... nothing is working. I have tried my personal code and the administrator code (and all past passwords, just in case) and still have no luck.
It there a way to reset the password....or to bypass it all together so it boot directly to the desktop???

Thanks

Hi

Sounds like the SAM got rewritten maybe, have you tried a blank password, there are 2 ways into an OS.

1) download this bootdisk from here

2) slave the drive and delete the SAM file found in system32\config,

Number 2 is the easiest if you have another PC, number 1 is for those without access to another PC, the disk is a bit of a pain to make but works fine (hint when resetting use a blank password, it works better).

Regards
