I have a friend with a problem. Avast was telling her to update and she clicked on something and the computer re-booted and now Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player and MSN are all malfunctioning.
If you go to Add remove programs / windows components they all read 0.0 Mb but they are all checked on. I remove and then re-install but to no avail.
I re-downloaded IE 7.0 and WMP and this has not helped.
I think it is registry related stuff.
I think I can try and re-install Windows XP and do a repair but this feels extreme.
Any other ideas?
