Windows installer pops up with preparing to install for a split second every time I open a program. I have googled the issue and tried everything suggested but I cannot seem to fix the issue. It also said to use windows installer clean up tool but it pops up with pretty much EVERY program including opening new tabs in IE.

Please look for Errors in the Event Viewer that are corresponding to the time of the installer message pop-ups:

Start> Run> type in eventvwr

Do this on each the System and the Applications logs:

  • [1]. Click to open the log>
    [2]. Look for the Error>
    [3] .Right click on the Error> Properties>
[4]. Click on Copy button, top right, below the down arrow >
    [5]. Paste here (Ctrl V)
    [6].NOTES
    • You can ignore Warnings and Information Events.
    • If you have a recurring Error with same ID#, same Source and same Description, only one copy is needed.
    • You don't need to include the lines of code in the box below the Description, if any.
    • Please do not copy the entire Event log.

Errors are time coded. Check the computer clock on installer pop-up.

you may have a program on startup that is not correctly installed. The windows Installer Cleanup Utility lists A:: your program entries, not just what you need to 'clean up'. The choice will be yours on what to delete when you find it. Hopefully, Event Viewer will help.
