Winsock Problem

Hi.

I have been unable to use my computer to connect to anything internet related. I contacted my Service Provider and they said I have a winsock problem/error, and referred me to the Microsoft Website to find the fix. Can't seem to find anything specific. I am running a HP Pavillion 2950 with Windows ME. The little I've found seems to be for Windows 95. What do I do?? Please help.
