Hello all, I'm considering upgrading my computer but not sure if any purchases would noticeably boost performance.
I am going to set up the PC in the living room as a home theater pc and would like to play games on it as well (I usually play RTS games like empires total war, command and conquer, spore, etc.). Acting as a home theater pc, it will also play HD movies, record tv, etc. through mediaportal on a 1920 x 1080 plasma screen.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+, 3.00 GHz
2.00 GB DDR RAM
Radeon X1900 Crossfire
I use SATA hard drives
Plan on installing Windows 7
I was wondering if any upgrades would provide a noticeable improvement in the system for gaming or media related functions. As far as budget, I wouldn't mind spending around $300 for a motherboard / cpu combo, or any other upgrades, but I don't want to spend the money if performance would only be minimally improved.
