XP Pro SP3 issues

  1. SP3 update for XP/Pro includes some Vista security features, including

    Network Access Protection (NAP)

Network Access Protection (NAP) is a new platform and solution that controls access to network
resources based on a client computer’s identity and compliance with corporate governance policy.
NAP allows network administrators to define granular levels of network access
based on who a client is, the groups to which the client belongs, and the degree to which that client is
compliant with corporate governance policy. If a client is not compliant, NAP provides a mechanism
to automatically bring the client back into compliance and then dynamically increase its level of network access.

    Papers available include
    1. Intro to Network Access Protection
    2. NAP Platform Architecture
    3. Internet Protocol Security Enforcement in NAP
    4. NAP Platform Overview
    5. NAP Policies in Server 2008

Users accessing Domain Controller environments will have the most impact,
but standalone Workgroup users and Laptop systems will also see security

I suggest anyone installing XP/SP3 follow-up with their issues and solutions here
(let's not preempt the normal posting, but just post SUMMARY info here
and possibly a link to the original topic thread :) thanks! )

Good idea, Jobeard. We have seen no issues, but keep hearing about them.

raybay issue is with Hauppauge MediaMVP server software both beta and stable effected. Their are some issues with YAC Caller ID. But that's all I've seen so far. Still have to apply the patch for TCP Max Connections as nothing has changed in the effect to keep the TCP slow..

Q? Is this SP3 related or Vista?

MS pulls SP3 from further distribution!

    Computerworld is reporting:

It's an updated IT Blogwatch: in which Microsoft pulls Windows XP Service Pack 3 because of incompatibility problems with its own software. Not to mention Twitter tweets as art...

    SP 3 has been re-release
