You'll be able to try the Nintendo Switch ahead of March launch (if you're lucky)

Nintendo on Friday said that following its Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 in Tokyo on January 12, the company will embark on a six-city tour across North America in which gamers will be able to play the Switch ahead of its March launch.

While you won’t be able to swing by the local Blockbuster and wait your turn for some hands-on time with the new system à la Nintendo 64 days, the fact that some lucky residents will get to try it out ahead of time is better than nothing.

The six-city tour looks like this:

  • New York – Jan. 13-15
  • Toronto – Jan. 27-29
  • Washington, D.C. – Feb. 10-12
  • Chicago – Feb. 17-19
  • San Francisco – Feb. 24-26
  • Los Angeles – March 3-5

Before you get too excited, Nintendo notes that the first two days of each stop is invite-only. On the third day (Sunday), the event will be open free to the public. Space, however, is limited and fans will be let in on a first-come, first-served basis. Unsurprisingly, Nintendo recommends arriving early.

For those that can’t make any of the above dates, you’ll also have a shot to check out the Switch at PAX South in San Antonio (Jan. 27-29), PAX East in Boston (March 10-12) and SXSW in Austin, Texas (March 16-18).

Nintendo has said it doesn’t plan to release any more information about its Switch console until the January 12 media event.

Thanks Nintendo but I won't be attending any of those events. Please accept my sincerest apologies. (Read: I couldn't be less interested in it).

I might be intersted 2 years from now, when nintendo provides adequate stock of these things so you can actually buy them.

On a side note, I should pre order a few and resell them on ebay. Make a couple grand extra to end out the tax year.
