YouTube temporarily suspends Logan Paul's ad revenue

Last month, popular YouTuber Logan Paul was roundly criticized by the media, fans and other YouTubers for uploading a video showing a suicide victim in Japan's "Suicide Forest." Apparently, he has not learned his lesson and has been stripped of ad revenue by YouTube after posting videos encouraging bad behavior.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to temporarily suspend ads on Logan Paul’s YouTube channels,” a YouTube representative said. “This is not a decision we made lightly. However, we believe he has exhibited a pattern of behavior in his videos that makes his channel not only unsuitable for advertisers, but also potentially damaging to the broader creator community.”

After Paul's jaunt in Japan last month, YouTube removed him from Google Preferred, a premium ad group for content creators, and cancelled his YouTube Red video series. This new move goes one step further and hits Paul where it hurts creators the most... ad revenue.

Since returning to YouTube, Paul has uploaded several disturbing videos including one where he tasered a dead rat. He has also used inappropriate tags for videos and most egregiously, encouraged people to participate in the Tide Pod Challenge in which people eat Tide Pod detergent packs. The latter of which, YouTube has taken very seriously.

While the short-term effect of suspending Logan Paul's ad revenue will hurt him specifically, the long-term effect could harm other YouTubers as well.

Last year saw the brief reluctance of advertisers to display their ads on YouTube videos due to inappropriate content. However, this had the side effect of hurting otherwise harmless content creators who saw ad revenue drop sharply due to advertiser fears. Logan Paul's repeated stunts could potentially start another "Adpocalypse" in which advertisers drop support for popular YouTubers due to fear of being associated with inappropriate content.

YouTube could possibly drop Paul from the Partner Program completely which would permanently eliminate monetization from ads on YouTube. While that loss of income would be huge (SocialBlade estimates Paul earns about $1.2 million a month in ad revenue alone), Paul does have other streams of income via clothing and merchandising.

I always try to give these top YouTubers a chance. I'm actually impressed with PewDiePie's way of thinking. But after checking out this Logan Paul guy out after the suicide controversy, and really trying to understand things from his point of view, I just did not detect any good qualities. And last night I decided to check out his brother'ss channel and I was just shocked that these were twp are the top of top people on YouTube. It actually says more about the good portion of humanity that is attracted to such people.

It's hard to describe in letters, but the personalities are just what seems like very, very immature people making random noises of, "LOOK AT ME, look at me, LOOK AT ME, look me, OOOOO, BOOOOY, Whew baby." Another turn off is a Logan Paul video bragging about the mansion, expensive cars, etc, etc that he has. The vast majority of his viewers must be under 15, one because most older people must find the personality obnoxious. And two, kids under 15 respond very well to such wealth bragging. Adults have a better appreciation of the work it takes to make a living.

So he has earned more money in one month than most people do in 20 years, I will say I don't care. Especially since it is Ad Revenue, something of which I wish would die. Excellent point at the end. I think we also have to ask the question why are people watching his content in the first place? While his videos are stupid, what does it say about the people he attracts to his videos?

They only little pushed PewDiePew in the corner and he is now a reall SJW, otherwise, his production is as stupid as Paul's. The majority of Youtube videos are utter garbage. The only problem is there is no alternative platform where more serious content creators could profit.

The most degenerate idea is giving money to these youtubers. But blame Google for it, Google created this whole degenerated culture which G now tries to tame. But its too late.

Actually, I think more of the blame should be placed on his "fans", than him. The lowest common denominator of mankind has always existed, the internet has simply, and unwittingly, given it a place to congregate. That said, "you're blaming the victim", if you blame the web.

Societal decadence has always signaled, (or in fact is), a relaxing of moral standards. And quite frankly we haven't come even close to hitting bottom.

In fact, when you get right down to it, the bulk of hard core porn, and certainly "erotic art photography", is, at least by some standards, more tasteful than watching rats being tasered and unfortunate individuals committing suicide.

I remember the "good old days",when people weren't afraid to show their true animal nature. Of course it's of some certainty that the crucifixion of Christ as the crowd screamed, "give us Barabbas", the assassination of Caesar, or a daily posting of the showers at Auschwitz, would not have made it past the network censors.

Yet photographs abound, documenting the end results of the horror of the Holocaust. I guess that demonstrates, if you're going to go with, "shock and awe journalism", at least do it to the ends of moral reawakening. Those evidences exist on YouTube as well, and we should be thankful they do.

So people, "vote with their mouses", as to what they want to see. It's the old, "horse to water", platitude at work here, and it would seem that we have tens of thousands of thirsty horses.

Yes but, the current climate of absolute political correctness would never tolerate an old fashioned approach to child rearing featuring corporal punishment.

A male child might be able to sue you for physical and emotional scarring, along for appealing to the court to be "emancipated" while suing you for child support during the process. Oh well, at least that could possibly bypass the child's mother taking a cut of the monies, since she would have been "complicit in his abuse".

God forbid if it was a girl child and you spanked her, she'd get all of what the boy got, and drag your name through the mud on the talk show circuit, culminating with a sit down with Oprah, the world's first and most foremost, professional black woman (*),.pissing and moaning about her "sexually abused childhood".

Episode 1 is how many Tide Pods can Paul Logan eat (sorry Tide, we'll black out the logo).
Episode 2 we surprise Logan as he goes about his life and taser him....repeatedly.
