Pioneer have developed a technology which will allow optical drives to store 500GB of data. Just stop and think about this for a moment... 1/2 TB of data! You could store a lot of movies on one single disk - some 700 - or some 100,000 mp3s. Now that is just too cool for words.
The new technique will use ultraviolet lasers, which emit shorter wavelength rays than blue lasers. This makes it possible for the disks to have a capacity which is something like 20 times that of blue laser Blue-ray disk.
