The Radeon HD 7790 is more than capable of providing playable performance in DiRT 3 at 1680x1050, with an average of 62.1fps making it 7% faster than the GeForce GTX 650 Ti. The new Radeon GPU was 10% slower than the Radeon HD 7850 and 16% faster than the 7770.
The frame time performance clearly shows the Radeon HD 7790 leading the GeForce GTX 650 Ti by an 11% margin.
The Radeon HD 7790 averaged 27.6fps when testing with Sleeping Dogs at 1680x1050, making it 12% faster than the GeForce GTX 650 Ti. It was also 15% slower than the Radeon HD 7850 but 25% faster than the 7770.
It is worth pointing out that although the Radeon HD 7790 beat the GeForce GTX 650 Ti in our frames per second testing at 1680x1050, it was slightly slower at 1920x1200. However when we look at the frame time performance, while the 7790 was still faster at 1680x1050 beating the GTX 650 Ti by a 17% margin it was considerably slower at 1920x1200.
Still neither card was even close to providing playable performance at this resolution using the high quality settings, so it’s not really a big deal.
