Benchmarks: Far Cry 3, Hitman
The GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost was surprisingly slow when testing with Far Cry 3 at 1920x1200. With an average frame rate of just 25.6fps it was 15% slower than the Radeon HD 7850, though it did still manage to beat the 7790 by a convincing 16% margin.
For a more playable 50fps we required a second GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost graphics card. This meant that the GTX 650 Ti Boost SLI cards were 21% faster than the Radeon HD 7950, but 12% slower than the 7850 Crossfire cards.
The frame time performance of the Gainward GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost was much better as it was now just 9% slower than the Radeon HD 7850, but 52% faster than the 7790.
The frame time latency was also reduced from 41.3ms to just 29.8ms, which meant that the GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost SLI cards were 2% faster than the Radeon HD 7950 and 19% faster than the 7850 Crossfire cards, quite a different result when compared to the frames per second testing.
The Gainward GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost averaged just 19.7fps when playing Hitman Absolution at 1920x1200, making it 23% slower than the Radeon HD 7850 and just 9% faster than the 7790. When compared to the GeForce GTX 650 Ti the new boost version was 25% faster and yet despite that it still trailed the GTX 660 by a 21% margin.
With the single GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost graphics card averaging just 19.7fps we were impressed with the SLI performance which took the average frame rate to 37.8fps. This meant that the GTX 650 Ti Boost SLI cards were just 1% faster than the Radeon HD 7950, but 24% slower than the 7850 Crossfire cards. That said they were 49% faster than a single GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics card.
When measuring the frame time performance the Gainward GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost took an average of 47.8ms between frames, making it just 3% faster than the Radeon HD 7850 and 54% faster than the 7790.
The frame latency performance was quite poor when using a single GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost graphics card as it took an average of 71.4ms between frames. Adding in a second card did reduce the fame time quite a bit, down to 53.5ms, but even this meant that the GTX 650 Ti Boost SLI cards were 16% slower than the Radeon HD 7950 and 32% slower than the 7850 Crossfire cards.
