This has been an ongoing problem for me and i've tried multiple things. My web browser will not display the car itself on tirerack.com when you try and choose wheels for it. It refuses to load any car it just says 'please wait while the image loads' and i'll wait forever and it never changes. Also on www.cars.com it won't display anything except the title bar at the top. I've tried deleting the offline file content and clearing the cookies and i've also reset the defaults under the Advanced tab in the Internet Options but nothing will fix it. What am I to do? Thanks!

But how is your general internet connection speed? I mean, do you have no problems with online gaming, receiving e-mail, other types of internet data transactions? Is it just the loading of images?

Assuming that that's not the case then there be a number of problems causing certain pages not to load correctly, including problems with java...

oh, and its very likely to do with the proxy server of your service provider. even if your browser does not have a proxy server specified, its likely that a transparent proxy is still being used and that the problem may lie here.

i had a similar problem with my cable connection, which was fixed when i located an alternative proxy server of my service provider and then used that instead by explicitly specifying it in browser proxy settings.

you could investigate whether you have a transparent proxy by running a tracert command to some website, like

tracert www.techspot.com

and look for hosts named like proxy, prx1, cache, etc....

post the results of your tracert here if you want and maybe i can guess if there is a transparent proxy for you if i can.

do this:

tracert www.techspot.com > trace.txt

then open trace.txt in notepad and then copy and paste here.

as i said, i had a similar problem before and with an alternative proxy this was fixed, and then finally my transparent proxy was fixed and then problem went away so i reverted.

the tracert might not reveal any clues, though, but if you do a search on the net you may find the names of some proxy servers of your service provider. alternatively you might try to look for a proxy server on the internet which you could use. that could either make or break your page loading speed so try some experiments and see..

Ok here is the trace route. I doubt this is the problem because Cabrone now has the same ISP as me and he doesn't have this problem. I'm guessing its a problem with Java. Here goes nothing:

How close does cabrone live to you? I have a friend who uses the same ISP as me and is only 10 mins walk away and yet we are on different subnets and have different transparent proxies....

He lives far now, not around the corner anymore, about a 20 minute drive from my house to his. What you think is the problem? Did you see anything odd in the paste?

Well, I can't see something there really, because its just a bunch of hostnames but I do reckon that its a problem with your service provider's proxy server. The fact that Cabrone lives a little distance away and is having no problems would lend to the theory that he is using another proxy server belonging to your service provider.

Give me a time to figure out what proxy you are using if I can and what Cabrone's is (not promising anything, but will try....)

Thinking about what you said, i powered up my laptop and attempted to load these pages and they worked. My laptop is on the same network as my primary computer which will not load the pages. Doesn't this mean that the proxy server is working fine and that the problem is with the computer?

That would make sense to me. If you are on the same connection and it works with one computer but not the other, that leads me to believe that it is something internal to that specific computer.

Java support is taken out of IE 6.0 or something like that.

You can download MS jave client for it, but I'm told it sucks.

I personally download java from Sun (1.4 is the latest?) and that pretty much had fixed any java problems I had.

except I get a lot of Done, but with errors on page. after loading pages. it sucks because I can't have the unemployed insurance place process my stuff to send me the info I need to try to get some money from them.

problem is, I'm not sure what it's related to, it's possible that it's java related.

Ok everyone, i have figured it out. I tried viewing those pages like 100 times and i realized that the images that coudln't load came from ad servers, and i rememberd that i had disabled popups in tweakxp and i knew that some of those urls had to do with ads, so i disabled it and all the pages have shown up. I think its really weird how u can't have an ad-remover and view normal pages.

Yes, that does seem weird. Especially since you can't veiw the pages, it just won't work. At least you figured it out, after many hours of wasted time on the net. haha j/k.

Tracert

i am trying to interrogate root DNS servers, using " TRACERT " but after going to first hop i am getting " Request timed out "

please help. :)
