SymNRT is a program that can remove some Norton software from your computer.

Solution:
SymNRT is a program that can remove some Norton software from your computer. SymNRT runs on Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.
SymNRT should be used only if you have tried to uninstall the Norton program using Windows Add/Remove Programs and that did not work.
Will SymNRT work for you?
Norton Removal Tool will remove these--and only these--Norton programs:
* Norton AntiSpam 2004/2005
* Norton AntiVirus 2003 through 2008
* Ghost 2003, Ghost Version 9.0 and 10.0
* Norton GoBack 3.1 through 4.2
* Norton Internet Security 2003 through 2008
* Norton Password Manager
* Norton Personal Firewall 2003 through 2006
* Norton SystemWorks 2003 through 2007
* Norton Confidential Online 2007
* Norton Internet Security Add-on Pack 1.0 - 2.0
* Norton Save and Restore 1.0 through 2.0
* Norton 360 1.0 through 1.3
If your program is not in this list, do not use SymNRT. It will not remove your program. If you need help with removing programs not in this list, go to the Technical Information section near the bottom of this page.

Post a comment| Julio on June 3, 2006 12:27 PM | This utility is really useful for brand computers that come with any Norton software preinstalled, successfully removing everything from your hard drive and Windows registry.
Particularly useful as well for a bug found with Microsoft Office / Microsoft Word. If any of the programs in the suite are taking too long to load and you have no idea why, chances are it could be a remaining part of Norton trying to scan your Word files for viruses. In other words, don't trust normal uninstallation for Norton and run this. Of course, we also recommend you install a real antivirus and anti-spyware program after doing so.

| cpfuller on August 9, 2006 10:17 AM | Julio please suggest what you consider to be a real antivirus program. I have researched on this site and on-line and all recommendations are conflicting. BitDefender seems to be the best now. cNet doesn't think very highly of some of the ones that people recommend on this board. AVG, avast so whats a guy to do. I have been using Norton Internet Security and want to get rid of the bloat. I am looking for something that is effective but is not a resource hog. I also need a good firewall to replace the norton firewall.

| Hanto on March 18, 2008 12:43 AM | Avast is by far the BEST anti-virus package around. I have been using it for almost 4 years now without a quibble. I wish I could have said that for the previously 10 years with other brands of software.

| Hanto on March 18, 2008 12:54 AM | Just for the sake of knowledge and not because someone might accuse me of AVG bashing, AVG 7 is probably okay but AVG 6 had some serious problems that included corrupting fresh installs of Win98 all the way to WinXP and the company never admitted to it. To often a corruption is blamed on virii/trojans when in fact neither is the cause. I have done extreme troubleshooting to verify my statements here.
