I've a newer DellPC , WinXP, Avast, Zone Alarm, Spy-Bot, Ad-AwareSE, everything, but now I've got this stuff in my computer. It's hallmark is a bright new red desk top (sliding screen) with a hazardous warning sign, trying to download this crap:

I've tried many of your suggestions
I've even tried system restore, and it didn't detect it.
I use Firefox/Mozilla as my browser but this still got through and has taken control of IE.

How did this happen

host file and spywareblaster are tools to PREVENT infections, not cure them.

Howard's info is the repair side

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.

Regards Howard
