  1. Hello I upgraded my cpu a while ago without checking if my mobo could run it.. worked fine on low usage but when I tried to stress the Cpu the pc died and wont boot/post. Is it the cpu or motherboard that takes damage from this? (Or both?)
I tried with my old cpu but with same result.

Can you link us to your motherboard, your new cpu and your old one as well?

I'm going to lean toward the motherboard taking damage. It is usually the weakest component that is fried.

It's possible you blew out a motherboard VRM.
Technically I think that could kill your CPU too but you'd have to check.
