2 Questions -- Do you have to have hosting with a domain name to attach to an online pdf? How do you attach a domain with or without hosting to a pdf?

Yeah, so just as I tried to make as clear as I can about in the questions above I'm wondering how to go about this. I'm fairly sure you have to have hosting for a domain to go live online but I'm not 1000% sure. Help me tech gods!!!

I bought hosting and a free domain name but then realized I can only use the domain name for a website. I only bought the domain so I can attach to a pdf guide

So then this leads me to my next question, which is, how do you take just a domain name with hosting or without and attach to a pdf guide that someone can see online?
