A Woman Who Bought Two iPhones Was Scammed with Two Apples Instead‏

Is there a reputable source that this actually happened or is it just a made up story (I don't mean by you) doing the rounds? I tried to google it, but the first results all lead to gizmodo which gives no further trustworthy source.

OK, thanks. Assuming that the story is real, I see the weakness here:
The two women arranged to meet at Sunnybank McDonald's where the transaction took place. The woman paid $1500 and was handed two iPhone boxes that looked new but she did not check inside.
The ruling quote is: "Let the buyer beware"

I guess this is worse, than the people who bought iPads from the store and got an clay tablet instead. Turned out some scammers bought real iPads and returned the boxes with clay tablets.

Yeah... There were people locally here buying up iPads and resealing the boxes after they removed the iPads and returning them to Target
