Acer has taken the wraps off a couple of new all-in-one PC models designed to take advantage of Windows 8’s touch centric interface. The Aspire 7600U and 5600U pack a 23-inch and 27-inch touchscreen, respectively, which can handle 10-point multi touch input and offer a 1920-by-1080 resolution.
Pricing for the 23-inch model will start from $1,150 (or $1,000 for the non-touchscreen variant) when it launches on October 26 with a 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 3110M processor, integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics, 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. The larger 27-inch model won’t be available until sometime towards the end of next month with a significantly higher starting price of $1,900. That will get you a Core i5-3210M processor, the same 8GB of RAM, Nvidia GT 640M discrete graphics, a Blu-ray drive and two HDMI inputs instead of one.
Both models feature 802.11n Wi-Fi, HDMI out, Bluetooth, multi-card readers, VESA wall mounts, and Windows 8 preloaded. Design-wise, they have a fairly minimal profile at less than 1.4 inches thick, with a transparent panel on the bottom of the bezel and the ability tilt so that they lie at a nearly face-up 80-degree angle.
In addition to the new all-in-ones, Acer introduced two similarly sized monitors with multi touch capabilities. The 23-inch T232HL costs $500 while the 27-inch T272HL is $700. Both feature IPS 1920 x 1080 panels, built-in speakers, three USB 3.0 ports, VGA, DVI, HDMI, and the ability to tilt back up to 60 degrees.
