Add 2 old IDE drives to new HP with SATA?

Hi, first post here. you guys are very good, so this newbie appeals to you for help.

Gist of questions: After I add a new power supply upgrade, I wish to add two older IDE harddrives from my last machine into new HP Pavilion a1700n running Vista. It has SATA hard drive. I believe I included pics of mobo, but if not, it is Asus a8m2n-la / or in HP it is a NodusM3-gl8E

Are my old IDE drives compatible?

If so, what are the installation steps I need to follow?

make sure you know exactly what the boot order should be
as xp (don't know bout vista)defaults to the pata channels
would help to keep no boot active OS's on the pata drives if they are only for storage
if boot from pata you got less worries
