Amazon has launched their Instant Video streaming service on the Xbox 360. The move comes just one month after Sony did the same thing on the PS3, allowing users to access their purchased or currently rented content from Amazon directly on the game console.
In addition to watching previously purchased content from Amazon’s video library of over 120,000 titles, Xbox 360 users who also have an Amazon Prime membership can enjoy unlimited access to the entire Prime Instant Video library. This includes access to over 17,000 movies and television shows at no extra cost.
You can start watching a video on your 360 and finish it on your Kindle Fire or computer with the ability to pause, fast-forward and rewind just like you would on a DVR. Users can additionally add movies and television episodes to their watch list directly from the gaming console.
To get started, you’ll need an Xbox Live Gold membership. Head to the Apps section on the 360 dashboard and click Amazon Instant Video to start the download process. Once installed, run the app and follow the on-screen prompts to sign in or set up a new Amazon account. Instant Video on the 360 will also soon be compatible with the Kinect motion sensing device so you can wave your hands or speak to the system to navigate through the app.
