5800X3D is still a decent mid-end gaming CPU yeah. Mostly around Intel gaming performance, Raptor Lake and Arrow Lake. Fine for most 60-144 Hz gamers.
9000X3D/7000X3D is in a league of its own tho. Top tier gaming CPUs. A must for 240+ Hz gaming if you plan to maximize your monitor that is, or care about very high minimum fps (which is really what matters the most)
AM4 is a somewhat dead platform but it would make sense if AMD resumed 5800X3D/5700X3D production, with this RAM crisis, many are stuck on AM4 and still using Ryzen 1000/2000/3000, especially 1000/2000 is dated stuff these days
