Application Error in Explorer.exe
Hello everyone,
I have started getting pretty common "application error" crashes. The first one I noticed hapened when setting an icon for a shortcut in explorer ... explorer.exe crashes. I am now finding crashes in other programs ... vlc crashes when it exits while playing a movie, miranda sometimes crashes when exiting. I have done a windows repair and am at a loss as to why this may be hapenning. I am attaching my drwtsn log and dump files to this email.
I am also having a problem with chkdsk on my system partition ... dont know if it is related. It gives the following two errors:
Correcting errors in the master file table's (MFT) BITMAP attribute. Correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap.
Every time its run, often gives other errors also. Running chkdsk /f or running chkdsk /p in recovery console doesn't fix the problem. The only way I seem to be able to avoid the errors is to boot in safe mode, or with all services disabled. I dont know if these two probelms are related.
I have tried running memtest86 (no problems shown after 5 sweeps), and diagnostics on my main drive (Western Digital, also no problems shown).
Would someone help me by looking at the logs or giving a suggestion?
