ASUS P5WD2 Premium and Core 2 Duos

    is a link to my motherboard specifications. Will my board take core 2 duo processors?

    It looks to me that you should be O.K.
    Here is the CPU spec's:
    CPU - LGA775 socket for Intel® Pentium 4/Celeron CPU
    - Intel Pentium® Processor Extreme Edition & Intel
    Pentium® D Processor ready
    - Compatible with Intel® 05B/ 05A and 04B/04A processors
    - Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology ready

    Not to be argumentative, but the Core 2 Duo isn't a Pentium. It's a different architecture. Wikipedia tells us that that chipset doesn't support Core 2 Duo. That's the way I understand it, anyway.

    I think that the intel P965 chipset is the lowest that supports the core 2 duo.

    Check into the Asus P5B line of boards. They are avaliable in all kinds of flavors to suite your needs.
