Audio Driver Help!

Hello everyone i am new at techspot MY PROBLEM:i re-install my computer and i cannot find my audio driver....my english is not very good ...so i am looking for link....pls can anybody tell how to download it how to launch it?? pls help me....
My Audio card: Intel 82801DBM ICH4-M - AC'97 Audio Controller [B-1]

That is on-board audio using Intel/Windows chipset drivers for the controller and motherboard specific drivers for the analog audio.

You need to identify the motherboard.

Similar Intel northbridge/southbridge set is covered here:

You will need to find an audio codec that supports AC97 for that chipset - quite often a number of companies use similar sets and would have an audio download.

and i do not know what to do with it.....i also install some chipsets....and also look at this forum....http://forums.windrivers.com/showthread.php?t=79818 ... but this does not work

Download and run Everest Home (it is free):

Once you download it, click on it and let it install and then run it from the icon on your desktop and then click on 'Computer' then on 'Summary', then go to the VERY top of the screen and click on 'report', then 'quick report-summary' and then 'plain text' and save it then go to C:/programs/lavalys and open that folder then open Everest Home sub-folder and then reports sub-folder and click on the report.

This will open it in a text editor (probably Notepad) and then use your mouse to highlight ALL the debug stuff at the bottom of the report and delete it and then save that file again and then copy and paste it to here.

For whatever help it may/may not be, the IBM Thinkpad R51 is an example of a comp with those chipsets and with the ICH4 component.

You can try the audio driver for that:

This does not function....i do not what to do.....it wrote Driver not found

In Windows Explorer left click on Desktop, File, NEW, Folder and name it Audio.

Then go to that site and download the audio driver package (item 4 I think) to THAT folder.

If it is a compressed file (zip or rar) unzip it to THAT folder.


Then, look in Device Manager at the Sound, Video and Game Controllers tab and see what you have for High Definition Audio and say what it is here. If you are not sure, report ALL of the entries.

But that audio driver(soundmax) told Driver not found


what now?
