. BAD_POOL_HEADER. and this technical information. ***STOP: 0x00000019 (0x00000020,0x8612B0C0,0x8612B0D8,0x1A030002) does this mean anything to you? My DVD/CD writer has started to crash my PC when it reads CDs I have burnt on my PC. It does not crash when it reads a commercialy written CD. The information above came when I unchecked the automatic restart box in system properties.

Ok sorry about this but I went off half cocked when I started this thread. So far I have done the following.
1) Checked my PC for virus and malware. None found.
2) Changed the optical drive for a new one.
3) Installed all updates from Mircosoft.
4) Dissabled the indexing program in XP.
5) Unchecked the automatic start box in system properties.

Still getting this error, or has the error changed or disappeared?

I am still getting the same message with the new drive installed. I have checked in device manager and it is working correctly.
