You remind me of my aunt, who is convinced mammograms cause breast cancer because women with breast cancer all have gotten mammograms.
I've heard and read much of the stuff on the Vaccines, I can see some reason to be a bit concerned as I don't believe vaccines are the be all cure. What his motives may be it's hard to argue against a guy who's given away such a large amount of money frankly you give that much away it wouldn't be a surprised if some of it was used with negative out come. Regardless, good on ya Bill you've done very well for yourself I hope you continue be successful and use it to help your fellow man.

He's not only giving money to the poor, he's also investing TIME. People may say that he's rich and all, and that giving a billion is nothing for him, but his time is as precious as anyone else time.

I hope that was sarcasm. This only proves he never once felt threatened, or he never would have contributed to charity. To me that betrays the very definition of charity. Look at all you bowing at his feet, he has this money for only one reason, he took it from you and I. We were the id_ots that made him rich, and no I'm not delusional in thinking he can't give it back.
And as a Christian(that is if I actually thought I was one), I believe it's about how little one needs to meet their goal.

I had all ready dropped it, but thank you for speaking out. After all I do agree that Christian topics as well as porn have no place on a tech forum. Unless of course you want to talk about how sophisticatedly technical, alters and dildos are getting. Maybe Bill Gates can contribute to one of those causes and give us the opportunity to start a conversation technically.

Not sure I would call it "trumpeting". I think he is saying something more like 'amputation is better than death'. As for philanthropy, I was thinking more of his many other contributions - which total almost 50% of his net worth.
Chem in the sky stinks...but part of the global warming problem can be traced to the cleanup of particulate matter (our EPA success!!). I think I like a bit more warm and clean air.
Some of Bill Gates best results may come from Sapphire Energy ( http://www.sapphireenergy.com/ ). Current tech seems to be producing about 9000 gallons of biofuel per acre, so 1.4% of the USA land area can totally replace fossil fuels. The benefit is the carbon capture which takes place by having a nice piece of biomass in pre-harvest state and in the weening from fossil fuels. If you are concerned about water use for this, consider capabilities of OriginOil appliance for re-cycling water.
So, hats off to Bill in my book.
