No one with any sense is denying that more testing means more positive test results.

The important number, that people use to get a feel for the problem, is the positive test rate. So you take the number of positive tests, divide it by the total number of tests, and you get some idea of infection rate in your population.

Testing more or less doesn't change the meaning of this number. It just makes it more or less accurate. Test 100% of the population at the same instant, and you know the infection rate precisely. Test 0% and you have no idea. But the relationship is not linear. Testing fractions of 1% of a large population, and doing it regularly, can give a pretty good impression of the infection rate over time. Break it down by location and you can track clusters and spread.

Hopefully you can see why arguing that infection rates aren't comparable, because the US tests more (on which, as a proportion of population, it is behind the UK, Russia and Qatar), is unhelpful.

Remember that Covid has a 99.7 survival rate, and the great majority of cases are totally asymptomatic.

0.3% of the population of the US is more than 900,000 people. Are you really so callous that you would make no personal sacrifice for that many lives?

ITS ALL A LIE!!! I've been to 20 states including Florida for the last 3 weeks and NEVER wore a mask or social distanced. With all the gas pumps I've touched and all the people I've smoked weed with I still haven't gotten sick. So either it's not as contagious as everyone says cuz I've interacted with over 10,000 people. OR it's no different than the flu which I haven't had in over 8 years! I'd try to reply with some sense, but there's nothing in this post that can be refuted as it's all completely hand-wavy generalisations.

One thing I can agree with:

Privilege, money, and power inherited because of who you are, who you know, not your abilities or what you can do.

But there are far simpler explanations for that than "virus created in lab to scare population into submission". If anything, it has had the opposite effect and made a lot of powerful people look really silly. And it doesn't take much power of deduction to realize that a global pandemic is against pretty much everyone's interests, and makes no sense as a tool for the powerful to wield (unless you're on the side of the planet.... maybe it was the greenies!!!! /s).

One thing you eventually learn in life is that the rich and powerful are just people, with all the same flaws and biases as the rest of us. Just look in the mirror - you don't need conspiracy theories to explain why the world is the way it is.

WHO or CDC were facing a new virus, with very few data available and most of Those data were manipulated by Chinese government. Their mistakes are understandable. A virologist is not a genius, he need data and observations, and a change of strategy over the months is quite normal. All this is well and good till you have it out of China and still no data over 6+moths later the virus hit the US all the way back in November of 2019......did scientific method get thrown out the window, genius or not it's their field of expertise, hence, no one beyond them is qualified and yet the way this was handled by the medical community was ultimately shameless, the political side is bad enough.

High risk individuals and older adults who are concerned about contracting Covid 19 have every right to to take the vaccine when its made available, so long as they are clearly informed of the risks involved in doing so.

There is a reason they want indemnity for the pharmaceutical makers developing the Covid 19 vaccines. Indemnity frees pharma from legal obligation as a result from adverse/lethal side effects. Anything that is rushed and is expected to be used on mass populations needs to be upfront with that populace about the increased risks.

That’sa real risk for sure. Developing and testing of a vaccine can take up to 10 years.
But as far as I know they are working on already existing (and tested) vaccines, slightly modified to fight Covid. That COULD reduce the risk, but clearly cannot eliminate it.

Well technically we are 650,000 people die from the flu each year. But there are more people living today than 300 years ago so why the low percentage then? Cuz of herd immunity. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Stop using sanitizer cuz thats not natural. Don't use face masks cuz that will kill you. And don't social distance cuz you need bacteria to develop a healthy immune system. 8 years I haven't been sick. You wrote about Ebola above. Well Ebola is not easily spreadable as COVID mostly because when you get it, you feel sick almost immediately. So sick you can’t really go anywhere to spread the virus. Covid-19 is much more subtle and a lot of people are infecting others without even knowing. Not to speak about irresponsible ones like the genius above (or even worse the ones ignoring mild symptoms and keep having social contacts).

And I hope I spread it to the whole world. Facts if you are in your 20s you are 2.13x more likely to die in a car crash than die from covid 19. Fact over 18 million native Americans died from the flu and its stronger now that it was back then but even though 650,000 people still die from it a year its a very low % because of herd imunity that you don't get from social distancing. Fact cotton masks trap the moisture from your breath and create micro-mold that can make you super sick and even kill you. I haven't been sick in over 8 years cuz I don't use anti bacterial soaps or disinfectant and I rarely wash my hands. Your body needs bacteria to have a healthy immune system. Go take a science class on Mico biology cuz I have and know way way more than you.

No I wouldn't cuz long term it will cost way more than those lives. 18 million native Americans died of the flu. Today only 650,000 people die of it. Why herd immunity. You don't get that from social distancing. Your body needs bacteria to develop a healthy immune system. If you put yourself in a bubble the virus will get stronger while your immune system will go down. Stronger virus with lower immune system equals a higher chance of death. I'd rather have a 99.7 chance of living now which it's actually a 99.993 chance if you are in your 20s than wait 5 years to get it and trust me you will eventually get it and have only a 90 or even 80% chance of survival. Wake up people.

This is a terrible and stupid way to think about it. A virus is super super small. Let me make another suggestion. When I fart I bet you will smell it and guess what thats fecal matter you are smelling. So if you can smell that after it goes through my underwear, my pants, and travels over 6 feet and goes through your mask how the hell do you think a virus that is over 10x smaller is not going to make it through? On top of that if you wear a cloth mask that will trap moisture and create micro mold which can kill you! Not including you don't get hurd imunity from social distancing and wearing a mask lowers your oxygen intake which lowers your immune system. I got an A+ in Microbiology in college I know a thing or 2 about viruses and most people are being brainwashed.
