Black screen with 7600GT, onboard works

hi guys, i was watching a movie on my computer when all of a sudden the screen went black and nothing would show up on it. so i shut it off using the power button and tried turning it on. the thing boots up well and i can even hear the windows login sound but i cant see it on screen. not the bios/not the desktop, nothing. its just a black screen. so i tried to plug in the monitor into my onboard graphics and it worked. so what could be my problem ? its a e-vga 7600gt

It is possible that the video card just went bad
