BSOD pops up every time I try to boot up

I have Windows XP Home Edition, unsure of technical stuff. On Tuesday my computer was running a disk check when the power went out... And since then on the Windows XP home screen, the bar moves for one or two seconds, freezes, and then a BSOD pops up with the error STOP: 0x00000024 along with other nmbers. I purchased a Windows Recovery Disc off Amazon that day, and just got it. I booted from the disc via BIOS. I ran Chkdsk on both C: and D: drives, and both end with the error 'The volume contains one or more unrecoverable problems'. Can someone please help? I don't have a lot of technical knowledge :/
