Building a PVR

I am trying to set up my computer as a PVR. In order to do this, I need to run audio/video cables so that I can send data both ways. i.e. I want to run the video from my reciever to my computer, then record it, then be able to send it back to the reciever.

Is it possible to do all of this with one cable running from my reciever to my computer (they are in different rooms). I have video in and out on my ATI AIW 128.

I know that this is very easy if I just run two sets of RCA cables, but my wife would kill me. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if you can do this with one RCA cable. If you absolutely had to do it with one cable, you would have to run back and forth between your PC and receiver, and switch plugs. That would be quite hard if you're trying two at the same time. I don't think S-Video will allow I/O on the same cable, so that wouldn't help...

Run two and wrap them in electrical tape so it only looks like one big one :D

BTW what do you mean by PVR? Personal Video Recorder or smth?
