Every time I make a new picture in PhotoShop CS and save it, I get a message from Norton saying Thumbs.db is waiting a virus scan.

The think my OS is making a database file for every picture I make, and I don't know why. I found where to turn off the cache'ing of thumb nails, but don't know if its ok to turn it off.

Here is a screen shot:

Why does the computer cache thumbnails and is it safe to turn the cache'ing off ?

Thank You.

It is ok not to cache thumbnails. It's just much slower to browse directories with hundreds or thousands of images in thumbnail view mode then.

As explorer's priority is set as "high", the whole computer (ok, user interface) might seem to have frozen when it scans the images again.

At least that's what happens to me, even with a 2 GHz CPU.
