CCleaner hacked

It is difficult to comment when all you have are platitudes and opinions so we both have different ones.
The central tenet of my problem with Ccleaner or any other cleaner is what is the need for it. What positive things do you accomplish realizing you put the whole fate of your OS in jeopardy by doing so. Years ago I trashed 2 systems using this and I stopped to ask why I did it in the first place and couldn't find any reason to use it. Now when we had 9 Gb drives and all we did was try to create more space at least we had a reason to risk everything.

Hi There's a lot more to CCleaner then just deleting temps. What happened years ago isn't today. I have heard a few horror stories about CCleaner, but it has never caused any problems for me. Maybe you should give it another look.

It's not that I won't give it a look, it's that I see no reason to use it. The only time I even consider using such a thing is to cut down scan times when running Anti-Malware scans and for that I much prefer the easy to use ATF Cleaner or TFC Cleaner which are both from Anti-Malware agent companies and therefore I consider much safer than a company that produces almost totally "bloatware" meaning useless programs.

I don't consider the tools in CCleaner bloatware. If you haven't used it for two years, you might be surprised what tools are on CCleaner.

Gosh, I use ATF,TFC & CCleaner to make sure I am clean, no harm done

Hi! CCleaner has a great tool for uninstalling unwanted programs. A tool to disable unwanted programs from starting up. A driver wipe tool, and more. I like it and it has never caused me one problem. I don't recommend the registry cleaner. Don't mess with the registry.

I am not saying the tools in Ccleaner are bloatware sorry, I am saying the site has nothing but bloatware on it.

A lot of people don't even know that CCleaner used to be known as Crap Cleaner.
To me it is good.
I have it set in Advanced options to clean ---

I used to do it manually.
This folder can grow to multi gigabyte size without attention.
Using CCleaner has never caused me any problems.
I never got any bloatware by installing it.
I guess I have enough sense to carefully read the updates & new program updates to avoid installing unwanted stuff.
A case in point is updating Flash.
They always have Chrome bundled with a new Flash update.
Just un-check it to not get it.
Make regular backup system images with Macrium Reflect or something similar.
Having a good system image to fall back on helps reduce your stress using a computer.
