Sort of kind of "click bait". Yes, he was a U of M student, but, he was also a Chinese citizen studying in the United States.
Sad, but that is the world THEY live in and no matter where you are, they keep watch over their subjects.

The only thing stronger than the west's greed is it stupidity! The west needs to sanction China till it is broken instead of making a communists nation stronger!

Even on here people make excuses for these evil people! Down with the government of China!

Trump should do that too. You don't screw with the president. Unless your name is Melania.

Or Stormy Daniels.

Just imagine if Trump was held accountable for his Tweets...

(sorry, but someone was going to bring him into this thread eventually!)
just imagine how many people would be in jail if those that spread hatred towards Trump on a dialy basis, held dolls of bloody cut of fake heads of Trump and so on. The entire demoncrat party would be in jail.

During ancient time, speaking anything remotely bad toward the Emperor of China and off go the heads of your entire three generation of your family. I'd say 6 months of jail is a huge improvement over that.

Same with the King of England... but there's more progress on this side of the Ocean...

Mr. Nguyen, can you f***ing read?

Constitution of United States of America 1789 (rev. 1992)

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Maybe you could provide me with the number of mental defectives who hang on every word of a clinically diagnosable, pathological liar. And I in turn, will tell you how many votes, "the Donald", will be getting next election.

And we think we have it bad. It's not perfect by any means but just imagine living in a country with this kind of government.

Why is it so hard to just be civil?....
So tell me, Mr. "Nerves". Since you're calling yourself "a gamer", do you talk smack while you're gaming, or do you report people who do?

Personally, I always go for humor first. Of course, only when the opportunity presents itself.

OTOH, I've been incessantly bragged at, ragged on, and judged by my screen name for the last 13+ years.. Any or all of which sometimes requires "dropping the gloves", so to speak.

I've also endured SJWs and snowflakes for the same period of time.

This is a political discussion, not a technical topic. As you may or may not be aware, politics and religion are hot button topics which in theory, shouldn't be discussed in, "polite society".

So, if you have a technical issue that I believe I could help you with, I'd be happy to display the politesse which I believe I have at my disposal.

In this sub-forum however, why don't your have the courtesy, not to try amateur moderating, or suggesting you think we should sing "Kumbaya".,instead of vigorously expressing and/or defending our points of view.

Poor kid. That's some seriously fragile ego to be incapable of standing up to mild jokes from a non entity like a young student based in another country.
Yup, that about sums it up. China's government is filled with nit-wits with weak self-esteems and fragile ego's. Very pathetic.

I can read. And since I'm not an US citizen I couldn't care less what is in the US constitution. The US is not the whole world, US laws do not apply everywhere, and the US standard or "way of life" are not better or worse than other countries.

On those first two, you are correct. On that last one, it very much depends what nations are being compared. If comparing to China, you're completely delusional, for the reason illustrated by the events focused on by this very article.

If you don't live in China then your judgement on their system is also bias. China has over 1.5B of people, they have their own way to keep just that many people in check, imagine a United State that has 1.5B people do you really think that the current living standard would still be the same? If yes, then you're the delusional one.

The student in the article is still a Chinese citizen therefore he has the rights and obligations of a Chinese citizen doesn't really matter when his current residence is.

But I have been. I know first hand what it's like in China, and I'll tell you the United States is a greatly better country to live in, by a far margin.

Population has nothing to do with this issue. You're not sidestepping to shift the focus of context.
The student in the article is still a Chinese citizen therefore he has the lack of rights and unreasonable obligations of a Chinese citizen doesn't really matter when his current residence is.
Fixed. Freedom of speech and expression is a universal human right suppressed by a government with no sense of justice, only a sense of tyranny.

When I left China and came home I had a great respect for the Chinese people. I had ZERO respect for their government.

Then read this, if our late night comics were in China, they'd all have been executed by now, Steven Colbert in particular.

I can read as well, but yet, I don't feel like reading the excuses, justifications, and general lackadaisical apathy and acceptance, you exhibit toward tyranny.

Why do you present your opinion so positively toward China's Communist regime? Is it because you're afraid they're reading your posts?
