Computer loses internet every few days. Must reboot to restore

Please report Make/Model of the MODEM ... bet it has NAT and is the 10.50.0.1 we are looking for...

Btw: Cisco is a fine product - - but never intended to be a home user product ( gulp)

On the page you sent:

Setting the SPA2100 to bridge mode using the IVR

In order to set-up SPA2100 to bridge mode using the IVR press **** 201, press 1 to enable and 0 to disable the router functionality of the unit.

** this makes no sense to me. **

Setting the SPA2100 to Bridge Mode Using the Setup Page

In order to set-up the SPA2100 to bridge mode using the web-based setup page, complete these steps:

Step 1:
Access the SPA2100's web-based interface. For instructions, click here.

** The link for instructions is no good. **

I tried searching this info on google and found to access the router, type 192.168.0.1 into a browser. This results in "The site can't be reached." I tried pinging it in a command prompt and it just keeps timing out.

UUUUGH!!!!

I managed to find an IP address that gets me to an info page on the modem. Apparently login has not been enabled on this device. My ISP must have access to it blocked (the router is provided by them).

At any rate, I updated the driver for my Realtek controller and updated the firmware for my router. I will give it a couple of days and see if I lose internet again.

I believe you need the PC connected directly to the Modem w/o your Linksys.

Then access http://10.50.0.1/ and login.

Disable DHCP and SAVE

Disconnect the PC, rewire Modem->Linksys->PC and then power cycle the Cisco Modem.

I suggest resetting the router to default factory settings. Also clean all the temporary files and cookies. Try running Ccleaner on your PC and then check.

Connected PC directly to my modem and still cannot access it via 10.50.0.1

A google search found the IP 192.168.100.1 which gets me in but anything but the information page for modem is disabled.info.png

If you wire Cisco->PC
then get a command prompt and type IPCONFIG /ALL

Hmm; with Modem->PC connection,
  1. can you still ping 8.8.8.8?
  2. and can you still use your browser?

That is correct. Modem is connected directly to the computer. Internet works fine (for now) and browser works fine. I just cannot access the default gateway address.

REALLY Strange, but it's your ISP honking about with a private address.
At least we know it's not on your network can is not under your control.

OK well I just tried something on a whim. I just got home and, of course, could not connect to anything. Instead of rebooting my computer, I disconnected the ethernet cable from the computer, waited ten seconds and plugged it back in and I have internet again. WTH??
