Dell E520 - Graphics Card Upgrade

OK... So I have a friend who is looking to upgrade his graphics card.

He has a Dell E520.

The Mobo is - Dell 0wg864 - This is the Intel p965/g965 chipset.

I have seen varying results on the PCI slots. but i think he is ok.

Does anyone see a problem upgrading to an HD4850/4870 with this board?

A quality PCI video card will be a good upgrade for the computer

I don't think either of those cards will fit into the PC comfortably. The CPU HSF will get in the way and the case's internal ventilation isn't great either, and that's a big deal because both the cards like to get very, very hot. Another issue is that the stock PSU the PC comes with isn't adequate for either card.

I'd recommend going with a smaller, less power-hungry card like the HD 4830 or even the HD 4670.
